Achievements and Rise in Live Poker
After two minor cashes at the beginning of 2009, Fabian Quoss made waves in Las Vegas. On June 6, 2009, he secured second place in the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event at the World Series of Poker, narrowly missing out on a bracelet. However, the prize money of $427,911 propelled him to an annual poker income of over half a million US dollars. The following year, he achieved a similar turnover. Highlights included his victory in the English Poker Open's No Limit Hold'em Main Event in August in London, earning him a prize of $340,409. In September, Quoss also notched up $167,444 by finishing fifth in the No Limit Hold'em High Roller Event of the European Poker Tour, held in London.
In 2011, Fabian Quoss emerged victorious in both the Irish Championship of Poker held in Rozvadov and the UK Poker Tour in London, competing in the thrilling No Limit Hold'em format. Stepping into 2012, Quoss showcased his skills at the No Limit Hold'em High Roller Event of the prestigious World Poker Tour in Paris. As the year drew to a close, he pocketed a remarkable sum of 210,300 Euros by triumphing in the High Roller 8 Handed No Limit Hold'em tournament during the European Poker Tour held in Prague. The year 2013 marked a significant milestone for Fabian Quoss, as he surpassed the million-dollar mark in prize earnings. Standout achievements included securing the third spot in the esteemed Aussie Millions Poker Championship, earning a staggering prize of 791,774 US Dollars, and claiming the seventh place in the intense Super High Roller Event hosted by the European Poker Tour in Barcelona, with both events taking place in the exhilarating No Limit Hold'em variant.
Further achievements and the end of Fabian Quoss's career
With over three million US dollars in tournament winnings, the year 2014 would prove to be Fabian Quoss's most successful, although he would go on to achieve more tournament victories in 2016. On January 5th, his triumph in the Poker Championship Australia's Super High Roller Event earned him a staggering $1,629,940. Likewise, his fifth-place finish at the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne in February 2014 resulted in a substantial prize purse of approximately a quarter of a million US dollars. In November 2014, Quoss's first-place finish at the Asia Championship of Poker in Macau rewarded the Irish player with a haul of around $680,000. In 2016, he once again excelled at the Aussie Millions Poker Championship, claiming first place in the $100,000 No Limit Hold'em Challenge Event and securing a prize of $1,012,636. Additionally, Quoss emerged victorious in the No Limit Hold'em Super High Roller Event of the European Poker Tour in Monte Carlo, pocketing approximately $975,000. However, the following year, 2017, saw the Irish poker professional only achieve minor cashes, signaling the beginning of the decline of Fabian Quoss's illustrious career.
In 2017, Fabian Quoss barely made over $40,000 in earnings and failed to secure any tournament victories. His lack of participation in live poker tournaments in 2018 caused his rank on the Global Poker Index to plummet. The questions grew louder: "What is Fabian Quoss up to?" Unlike some of his colleagues, the poker pro has always been rather reserved and tight-lipped during his career. On August 22nd, 2018, he announced on the social platform Instagram the end of his career and his departure from professional poker. As he had never seen himself as a public figure, it never occurred to him to declare a "retirement." However, since Fabian Quoss now uses social media more actively than before, he wanted to provide an explanation. The professional poker world leaves little room for other things and demands a kind of "tunnel vision" and "obsession" to achieve one's goals. Quoss writes that he enjoyed the freedom and being his own boss. Ultimately, everyone can only focus on a few things. Poker is no longer an option for him. In 2018, he took a break with yoga, meditation, coaching, and his old love, basketball. Fabian Quoss still sports his famous full beard.
